ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE 5th INTERNATIONAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT FORUM


The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services
and the GW Center for International Health (a WHO Collaborating Centre for
Health and Development) present The 5th International Health and Development
Forum: Rights, Responsibilities and Values in Health and Human Development,
to be held Monday, April 6, 1998 at PAHO, Washington DC.

This Health and Development Forum takes place each year to provide a
platform on which to discuss, debate, and document emerging health and
development issues that transcend academic, professional, and geographic
boundaries.  This year's Forum presents an opportunity to examine issues of
basic rights to health and development, to discuss values intrinisic to
health and development such as equity and social justice, and to explore the
impact of phenomena such as globalization on the rights and responsibilities
of individuals, governments, and institutions vis-à-vis the improvement of
human life worldwide.

Virtual Forum: For the first time, health and development professionals from
around the world will be able to pose questions to Forum speakers via the
Internet.  Questions can be sent to [log in to unmask]  In addition, selected
speeches, news updates, and other information will be made available through
the GW Center for International Health web site at http://www.gwumc.edu/gwcih.

Registration Information: The Forum is offered free of charge, but
registration is required.  For registration materials, please send an e-mail
message including your name, organization, and mailing address to
