York Region Health Services' Child and Family Health division is conducting an environmental scan to investigate screening and interventions for prenatal depression within new immigrants from the South Asian community.
Specifically, we are looking to determine:
1. What means have been used to screen for depression in South Asian women?
2. What means have been used to treat depression in South Asian women?
3. What prenatal/antenatal and postnatal support interventions exist for South Asian women?
Of secondary interest is:
. postnatal depression screening/interventions specific to this community, and
. mental health issues in general with pregnant South Asian women.
We would appreciate learning of any local experiences, programs, resources, services or data/reports. Please forward any relevant information or contacts c/o Rebecca Byers at [log in to unmask] by Monday, July 24, 2006.
Many thanks,
Rebecca
