There are a number of presentations scheduled at the SPM
conference in October (see announcement below) that would be
very relevant to the members of this list. Of particular
interest is the keynote presentations by Dr. Jim Prochaska
(University of RI Cancer Research Center) titled "Population
Based Health Promotion," and Dr. Mark Kittleson, (SIU and
HEDIR-L Moderator) titled "Innovative Uses of Technology:
Addressing the Needs of Health Professionals Via the
Internet." There are also numerous breakout sessions on the
innovative strategies for delivering health promotion
services.
-------
The agenda for the Society of Prospective Medicine's fall
conference is set. The theme is: Measuring Risk and
Monitoring Outcomes: Using Assessment to Improve the Health
of Populations. The dates are October 25-28; the
location is the Marriott Hotel in beautiful Newport, Rhode
Island. Significant discounts are available for early
registration (before September 9th), academics, government
employees, students, and multiple registrants from the same
organization.

Come hear an outstanding line-up of keynote speakers
(including John Ware, Jim Prochaska, Jim Fries, Karen
Denard-Goldman, Mark Kittleson, Chad Boult and Vic
Strecher), as well as 36 breakout sessions and 4 workshops.
In addition, fifteen health risk appraisal and health
assessment companies will be exhibiting their latest
products and services. This promises to be the best SPM
conference ever.

Registration for this 3 and a half day meeting ranges from a
low of $345 (SPM member and early registration) to $495 (at
the door). For complete information about the conference
(including online registration, hotels, airlines, etc.),
visit the SPM Web site at www.spm.org, or call the SPM
office at 412-749-1177.

Please share this announcement with your colleagues and
friends. We look forward to seeing you in October!
