The Health Line in Edmonton provides 3-7 minute taped messages on a wide
range of topics, ranging from sexuality to birth control to parenting. It
has been operating since 1986 with close to 500 tapes.

Although I cannot reliably quote recent statistics, at one time it
received over 5000 calls per month. Consistently, in most cities across
the world that have similar systems, the most popular topics have been
masturbation and female or male sexual response, though many others
receive very high use.

In evaluation surveys, users reported that the information they gained on
the Health-Line helped them to use the health system more effectively and
to make health behavior changes.

For more information, you could call the Alberta Centre for Well-Being at
403-453-8692.
