Data Management Specialist

A half-time Data Management Specialist is required to work as a member of
an evaluation team at The Hincks-Dellcrest Institute in Toronto.  The
Institute is designing and monitoring the evaluation of a national network
(6-7 sites) of multi-faceted programs designed to promote early childhood
language and cognitive development.

The ideal candidate would have an educational background or training
providing him/her with excellent PC skills and an expertise in programming
databases including packages such as File Maker Pro, SPSS or SAS.
Candidates should have good interpersonal skills with a proven ability to
work as a team member.     Previous experience providing training or user
support and proficiency in French are assets. 

Online communication using electronic mail, list servers, and web based
technology will be used to ensure information exchange among projects.
Candidates should be familiar with both messaging and electronic data
transfer techniques.

This is a half-time contract position with funding for 3.5 years; the
contract is renewed on a yearly basis.   Some travel may be required and
therefore flexibility in schedule is an advantage.

The Data Management Specialist will report to the Director of Research.

Responsibilities will shift from year to year as the project and evaluation
move through their phases of implementation.  The immediate
responsibilities of the data management specialist include (but are not
limited to):
•     Training and technical support to sites;
•     Preparing and updating support materials as required;
•     Participating in online discussions with projects;
•     Development of database features which are unique to    each site;
•     Preparing the data library at the Institute; and
•     Statistical analysis.

Pay to be based on experience and a F.T.E. range of $38,000. - $45,000./annum.
