Women and the Mental Health System

Women have specific mental health needs which are not currently being
met by BC's mental health care system.

How can the system become more responsive to social conditions like violence
and poverty which affect women's mental health? What are some alternative
models/services to address women's mental health? How would a mental health
system be
 truly responsive to women's needs?

Join mental health researchers, Marina Morrow and Monika Chappell to hear
about
and discuss the findings of a new research report on women's experiences
with the
mental health system in BC. Guided by a working group of
consumer/survivors,
policy makers, researchers, and service providers, Marina and Monika
conducted
focus groups and interviews with over a hundred women in eight different
 communities across BC.
