The TeenNet Project, based at the Department of Public
Health Sciences, University of Toronto (Dr. Harvey Skinner,
Principal Investigator), is investigating ways of "engaging
youth in health promotion using information technology".
TeenNet with four partner organizations will take a lead
role in providing and evaluating health information for
youth as part of the evolving Canadian Health Network (CHN).

******Project Coordinator Position******

CHN (Canadian Health Network) Youth Affiliate Coordinator
full-time (July, 99 - Mar 00) with possibility of renewal.
Note:  Development of the initial work plan will lead to
revision of the following roles and responsibilities of the
Youth Affiliate Coordinator.

1. Assume day-to-day responsibility for the co-ordination
of the CHN Youth Affiliate consortium; monitor the budget,
help develop specific objectives, monitor completion of
objectives and prepare routine reports;

2. Co-ordinate with consortium members to carry out initial
responsibilities of Youth Affiliate as outlined by the CHN
in their initial Scope of Work document.  During the
initial four month period, this should be limited to
reviewing existing Web site content, making recommendations
for change, and responding to health information
requests received through CHN;

3. Co-ordinate the development of the initial year work
plan to ensure that services are planned and delivered to
meet the expectations for the CHN Affiliate as outlined in
the Affiliate Scope of Work (includes capacity and needs
assessments of consortium member organizations) and the
expectations of the Youth Affiliate members organizations;

4. Provide regular feedback/updates to consortium members,
and support electronic communication mechanisms between
consortium members, the CHN Operational Centre, Regional
Operating Partners, Affiliates and associates;

5. Work with youth to ensure active participation by youth
in the CHN Youth Affiliate Consortium;

6. Schedule and organize meetings with consortium members,

7. Liaise with the CHN Operational Centre, Regional
Operating Partners, Affiliates and associates;

8. Prepare and write any reports, correspondence, etc;

9. Ensure that reporting requirements are met according to
established guidelines;

10. Support CHN's national communications campaign and
participate in relevant launch activities;

11. Participate in CHN training, as needed.

Education
· Masters level education in relevant discipline preferred

Qualifications
· knowledge of Internet technology
· knowledge of health, community and consumer issues
· strong understanding of health promotion and the broader
determinants of health
· experience in developing and supporting collaborative
relationships with different groups or agencies
. excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving
skills
· proactive, self starter who displays initiative in taking
on new projects and multi-tasking in a rapidly changing
work environment
· sensitivity to linguistic and cultural diversity
· experience with a networked computer system and
familiarity with electronic mail, WWW, word processing,
spreadsheets and databases
·Knowledge of french an asset
