Job Description
The Youth Prevention Program of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health
(CAMH) is committed to the research, development and dissemination of
programs to help reduce and prevent the harm related to substance use among
youth. We would like to enhance our work by involving youth in program and
project planning, as well as project activities.  Working with members of
the Youth Prevention Program team as well as other staff and volunteers
from CAMH, the Youth Coordinator will develop a  "youth involvement" plan
for the 99-2000 fiscal year and will:

         Identify opportunities for youth to get involved in Youth Prevention
Program projects and other CAMH programs.

        Consult with other youth and youth programs/agencies to identify models
and strategies for involving youth.

        Investigate the potential and make recommendations for partnerships with
youth agencies, existing youth groups and high schools (incl. community
service work) as well as community service orders in corrections.

        Assist Youth Prevention Program team members with the development of a
proposal to get sponsors to support youth involvement.

        Explore and assist with organizing training opportunities for CAMH staff
around youth participation and involvement.

        Attend Youth Prevention Program team meetings and participate in other
relevant committees.

Qualifications
If you are or know of an energetic, dynamic young person, a "self-starter"
who has:
        a good awareness of youth issues
        experience working with other youth
        an interest in alcohol and other drug issues
        excellent interpersonal, writing and computer (WordPerfect/Microsoft
word) skills and,
        at a minimum, high school education
        the ability to work independently and make things happen
        and you're someone who's comfortable working with groups and in a large
agency setting,
