Health for All by the Year 2000?
Primary Health Care: Meeting the Challenge

October 21 and 22, 2000 at the Regional Centre in Ottawa

Call for Abstracts

This exciting national conference will celebrate the contributions of nurses
working in and with communities towards the achievement of Health for All by
the Year 2000 through primary health care (PHC).

Building on the National Think Tank on PHC and Nursing sponsored by
RNABC/CNA in 1998, this conference will examine challenges to and successes
in community nurses' implementation of primary health care practice, explore
PHC issues related to education and research, and envision future
developments to advance primary health care in Canada.

This conference will be of interest to nurses committed to primary health
care in their community practice such as nurse practitioners, public health
nurses, and visiting/home health nurses, nurse educators and researchers.

Purpose: To celebrate the contributions of Canadian community health nurses
in working towards the goal of Health For All and envision future
possibilities.

Goals:
        1. reinforce primary health care as both a philosophy and a
health care service approach
        2. clarify the roles of nurse practitioners, public health
nurses, and visiting/home health nurses in
             primary health care, and
        3. explore implications of primary health care for nursing
practice, education, and research
