YOU ARE INVITED TO THE RELEASE OF

"The Differential Impact of Health Care Privatization on
Women in Alberta"

by  Cathie M. Scott, Dr. Tammy Horne and Dr. Wilfreda E. Thurston.

The following events are designed to provide an opportunity  to discuss
issues related to impacts of health care on women:

CALGARY NEWS CONFERENCE
Tuesday, June 20 at 10:00 am
Libin Lecture Theatre, Health Sciences Centre
3330 Hospital Drive NW

Dr. Kay Willson, representative of the Prairie Women's Health Centre of
Excellence, Saskatoon, will provide an overview of this report and other regional
reports commissioned by the Centres of Excellence for Women's Health Program.
Researcher Cathie Scott will present the report's main findings.

 EDMONTON RELEASE
 Wednesday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m.
 Boyle McCauley Health Centre (10628 - 96 Street)

A media release presenting the report's main findings, followed by
reaction to the report by Kaysi Kushner and/or Liz McCord, Co-Chairs,
Edmonton Women's Health Network, and Dr. Janine Brodie, Chair,
Department of Political Science at the University of Alberta. Open
discussion of the issues raised in the report will follow. We have
invited researchers, immunity groups, regional health authorities,
provincial and federal government officials, and MLAs and
MPs. Members of the media may choose to stay and participate.

The research and publication of this study was commissioned by the
Prairie Women's Health Centre of Excellence and funded by Women's
Health Bureau, Health Canada,under the auspices of the National
Network on Environments and Women's Health, and by the  university
of Calgary Women's Health Research Group. The Alberta document is part
of a larger national project of the National Coordinating Group on
Women and Health Care Reform, involving regional scans of policies
and research related to privatization in health reform and its impact on women.

We hope to see you on June 20th or 21st and look forward to a
stimulating discussion about these issues.
