Subject: For Safety's Sake

Check out the newest theme page on the Health in Action
(www.health-in-action.org/) website. The theme page is called "For
Safety's Sake" for the Lakeland Injury Control Project in Alberta,
Canada.

"For Safety's Sake is an Alberta Health & Wellness Health Innovation
Project that provides the framework, support and resources for a broad,
community based injury control campaign in the Lakeland Regional Health
Authority.

The focus of the project is on building awareness of the enormous
economic and social burden of injuries and that injuries can be
prevented through community action. Ultimately, over time there is an
expectation that community action will affect the rate of death and
injury from motor vehicle collisions, suicide, childhood injuries and
the incidence of falls reported by seniors, which are the leading causes
of death or hospital admissions in the Lakeland region.
