Background 
Health Promotion Research Agenda 
for the 21st Century 
Purpose 
The Second  Conference on the Status of Nordic Health Promotion Research
will provide a unique opportunity for an intensive review, and summing up,
of health promotion research efforts that have been established throughout
the Nordic region. 
Continuos information on Internet
We will until the conference in September 1998 have ongoing discussions on
internet  on e.g. the content of the conference.  Therefor we have created a
web page for continuos information about the conference found at:

Deadline for Abstracts  
Provide your abstract directly on the webpage no later than the 30th of March!

you will find the Proceedings  from the 1st Conference on the Status of
Nordic Health Promotion Research: Progress during the Decade after the
Ottawa Charter. The abstracts of presented papers and posters can be seen
under the Main headlines of the Ottawa charter: 1. Build Healthy Public
Policy, 2 Create Supportive Environment, 3  Strengthen Community Action, 4
Reorient Health Services, and 5 Develop Personal Skills.

Some additional  issues to consider for your abstract  could be:
n Evidenced-Based Health Promotion 
n Community intervention in Urban areas
n Theoretical issues in health promotion research
n Community Safety Promotion Research
n Inequity and Health Promotion

Collaboration with other European Health Promotion Research Conferences

We will also co-ordinate this conference with the 1st  UK Health Promotion
Research Conference to be held  6-8 April 1998 in Edinburgh.. Information

Entire research groups
The regional nature of the Conference will stimulate participation by entire
research groups, not just the most senior researchers. The full
participation of research staff and researchers-in-training will provide for
new levels of scholarly interaction, that should produce more, and better,
inter-centre collaboration.

Main organiser is the  WHO Collaboration Centres on Supportive Environments
for Health and Community Safety Promotion at the Karolinska Institute,
Department of Public Health Sciences, Stockholm, Sweden in collaboration
with the other  WHO Collaborating Centres for Health Promotion and their
corresponding University Departments in the Nordic countries
