The IDN is pleased to welcome Dr. Harvey Blackburn as a sponsoring
member of the IDN.

Dr. Blackburn is currently Research Leader at the US Sheep Experiment
Station, Agricultural Research Service, US Department of Agriculture.
From 1995-1996, he was assigned to the World Bank by USAID as an
Agriculture Advisor.  He served as a Senior Livestock Advisor to the US
Agency for International Development from 1990-1995.

He received his Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Texas A&M
University.  As a research scientist at Texas A&M from 1984-1990, Dr.
Blackburn developed and performed research with dynamic computer
simulation models to simulate sheep, cattle and range ecosystems. His
models were used to evaluate biological interactions (e.g., genetic,
nutrition, management changes) and economic impact in the US, Africa and
South America. Dr. Blackburn was also co-developer of a dual-purpose
(meat and milk) breed of goats in Kenya.
