HPiC WEBSITE NEWS

13th September 1999  -  Issue  26

HPiC Website News aims to keep readers up to date with recently launched
internet websites in the field of health promotion. The newsletter contains
health information and campaign sites, sites of relevant organisations, and
sites which are recommended as good examples of design for the internet.

Translated Health Education Materials is a product of the Multicultural
Change in Health Services Delivery Project. One of the project's initiatives
was to gather together all the translated material utilised by the 22 health
care agencies involved. These were reviewed and translation standards and
procedures were developed, and a database and web site of translated patient
education materials was developed.

The European Database On AIDS provides bibliographic information on AIDS
related grey literature. It emphasises on "grey literature", i.e.
unpublished or little circulated articles, reports, conference proceedings,
videos, posters, films on prevention, etc. Information is provided by a
network of AIDS documentation centres in Europe. The database is available
to search, online, for free. Access to the European Multilingual Thesaurus
on HIV/AIDS is also available.

SMART (Sports Medicine And Related Topics) is the National Sports Medicine
Institute's database of journal articles, covering more than 170 journal
titles. The database contains over 32,000 entries, from 1986 onwards. Around
25% of the database entries also include author abstracts, and the database
is updated daily. The sample database is free to search (after registration)
however the full database requires a subscription.

Trials. The  meta register contains records from the Canadian HIV Trials

Limited, and UK Co-ordinating Committee for Cancer Research (UKCCCR). The
service is free but requires registration.
