This site may be of interest to some of you!

The International Forum on Urban Poverty is a partnership of
local and international actors working for the eradication
of poverty according to a strategy based on sound governance,
partnership and the participation of people living in poverty.

The Forum works to promote and implement the recommendations of
the Recife (Brazil) Declaration on Urban Poverty (March 1996).

The Forum was launched in Florence (Italy), during the Second
International Conference on Urban Poverty (November 1997), as
a framework for the discussion of the causes and consequences
of poverty at a global level and to provide support to initiatives
directed to its elimination.

The next forthcoming event of the Forum is the Third International
Conference on Urban Poverty, which will be held from 12 to 14 October
1999 in Nairobi, Kenya. The title of the conference is:

?Social Integration and Security for the Urban Poor:
   Towards Cities for all?

Please fill free to pass this information to interested people.

Your contributions to this Forum are welcome.

We look forward to hearing from you.

With our best regards

Where a great proportion of the people are suffered to languish
        in helpless misery,
That country must be ill-policed and wretchedly governed:
A decent provision for the poor is the true test of civilization.
