Station: Washington, D.C.; Tenure: Two years, first year probationary
period; Division/Program/Office: Health Systems and Services Development
(HSP) Human Resources Development Program (HSR).

Basic Salary: $40,419 at single rate; $43,326 with primary
         dependents (per annum net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $9,337 at
single rate; $10,008 with primary dependents (per annum net of taxes).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:  a college or university degree in public health, education
counseling, or any of the allied health fields or social sciences. Post
graduate studies to the Master's level in any of these areas is desirable.
Experience at national level:  Five years of progressively responsible
experience in a health related field and/or education and training.
Experience at international level:  Two years of experience working for an
international organization or with international programs.
Languages:  Very good knowledge of English with a working knowledge of
Spanish.

Registration deadline approaching for CSIH's Spanish Immersion and Health
Study Course

The Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) is offering a Spanish
Immersion and Health Study Course in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The course
consists of one-on-on language instruction, extracurricular cultural and
social activities, a major site visit to a health organization/project, a
debriefing meeting, and meals and accommodations with a local family.

Course dates: June 29 - July 27, 1997, or October 19 - November 16, 1997.
Participants can also arrange to attend for two weeks at a time. Those
selecting this option would attend the first two weeks or the last two
weeks of the session period, that is, either June 29 - July 12, 1997, July
13 - July 27, 1997, October 19 - November 1, 1997, or November 2 - November
16, 1997. The deadline for registration is May 29 for the June-July course,
and September 19 for the October-November course. For more information,

udes sur la sante, offert par la SCSI, se rapproche

La Societe canadienne de sante internationale (SCSI) offre un Cours
d'immersion en espagnol et d'etudes sur la sante a Quetzaltenango,
Guatemala. Le programme comprend des cours de langue individuels (un
enseignant par eleve), des activites culturelles et sociales, une visite
d'un site d'organisation ou de projet en sante, une seance de debreffage,
et hebergement dans une famille locale.

Le cours est offert du 29 juin au 27 juillet, 1997 ou du 19 octobre au 16
novembre, 1997. Cependant, la Societe peut accomoder des participants qui
ne peuvent passer que deux semaines en Guatemala. Ceux qui choisissent
cette option participeraient aux premieres deux semaines ou aux dernieres
deux semaines du cours, c'est-a-dire, soit du 29 juin au 12 juillet, 1997
du 13 juillet au 27 juillet, 1997, du 19 octobre au 1er novembre, 1997, ou
du 2 novembre au 16 novembre, 1997.

CBIE seeks Project Co-Manager/Technical Writer
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) is seeking a Project
Co-Manager/Technical Writer, to implement technical
cooperation programs in Ukraine. Tenure: June 1, 1997 to January 31, 1999.
The Project Co-Manager/Technical Writer will work for the Public Service
Reform Project (PSR) and the Policy Advice for Reform in Ukraine Project
(PARU).

Responsibilities for PSR project: assist with the implementation and
monitoring of all project activities associated with the delivery of a
technical cooperation project with the Ukrainian Academy of Public
Administration, Office of the President of Ukraine.

Responsibilities for PARU project: developing proposals and terms of
references for individual sub-projects, and preparing sub-contracts with
Canadian partners associated with the delivery of activities which will
provide policy advice to key Ukrainian government public and private sector
organizations.

IDRC seeks Executive Director, EHIP Secretariat
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is seeking an
executive director for its Essential Health Interventions Program (EHIP)
Secretariat. The Secretariat manages a program that includes a large
research demonstration project in Tanzania, in collaboration with the
Tanzania Ministry of Health.

Requirements: a graduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g.
administration, international development, public health); a minimum of 10
years of relevant experience in international development, including field
experience (preferably in Africa) and significant experience in the
management of large, complex projects; superior leadership and management
skills, with the ability to create and maintain a team environment, to work
in a multidisciplinary fashion and to communicate effectively in a variety
of cultural settings and in different fora; a good knowledge of evaluation
methodology and a sound background in financial management; computer skills
and a good working knowledge of modern information and communication
technology; and capacity to work in English and French.
