Basic Salary: $48,019 at single rate, $51,597 with primary dependents (per
annum net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $24,586 at single rate, $26,418 with
primary dependents (per annum net of taxes).
Hardship/Mobility: $2,145 at single rate, $2,860 with primary
dependents (per annum net of taxes).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:  A university degree in veterinary medicine or medicine
with a postgraduate degree at least to the master's level in food
microbiology, food science and technology, biochemistry, nutrition or
toxicology or a Ph.D degree in one of these fields.
Experience at national level: Seven years of professional experience in
food protection programs or activities concerned with normatization and
standardization of Codex Alimentarius, quality control and good
manufacturing practice (GMP), as well as microbiological and chemical
analysis of food, food safety and research. Experience should include
management, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of
contaminants control programs, laboratory programs and national or
international reference services, research and training in food
protection.
Experience at international level: Two years of participation in technical
cooperation programs and activities in disease control or in
immunization programs in an international health related program or
institution.
Languages: Very good knowledge of Spanish or English with a working
knowledge of the other.

Basic Salary: $48,019 at single rate, $51,597 staff member with primary
dependant (per annum net of taxes). Post Adjustment: $11,092 at single
rate, $11,919 staff member with primary dependant (per annum net of taxes).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering,
mathematics, or a related field of study. Master's degree in computer
science, business, or a related field of study.
Experience: Nine years of combined experience in support of end users
for complex computer installations and applications, in the
implementation and maintenance of small to medium size NOVELL networks
including maintenance of LANs and PC systems and in supporting desktop
software suites, of which at least five years includes supervisory
experience.
Skills: The incumbent must possess proven management skills, be able
to analyze network and software requirements from a user point of
view, and be able to take action leading to the timely resolution of
anticipated or reported problems. The incumbent works closely with a
wide variety of management, professional, and office workers and must
be able to maintain good working relationships with users without
compromising professional standards.
Languages: Very good knowledge of English. A working knowledge of

CCIH '97 seeks Volunteers to Review Abstracts
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fourth Canadian Conference on International Health
November 9-12, 1997, Ottawa/Hull, Canada

The Fourth Canadian Conference on International Health, the theme of which
is "Women, Health, and Development", is looking for qualified individuals
to assist in the abstract review process for the conference.

The Work: Each reviewer will be asked to read and evaluate, in accordance
with identified criteria, the brief one page abstracts which will be
submitted for consideration as presentations at the conference. Abstracts
are submitted in the format stipulated in the conference's Call for
Abstracts. The group of reviewers will meet (either in person or by
teleconference) to finalise the list of accepted and rejected abstracts and
assign them into groupings by subject.

The Timetable:
* Reviewers will receive abstracts by July 8
* Meeting of reviewers will take place the week of August 4 (tentative date
of meeting: August 5)
* Reviewers can anticipate reviewing between 150 and 175 brief abstracts
(maximum length of an abstract is one page)

Qualifications for Reviewers:
* Academic preparation at the graduate level in the health and/or
development field
* Experience in international health programs
* Preferred experience with an abstract review process

Upcoming conferences highlight recent findings on diet and cancer
prevention

The World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer
Research will host a series of conferences during the Fall of 1997 in
London, Washington, D.C., and New Delhi, India to present the findings of a
new international report on diet and cancer prevention entitled FOOD,
NUTRITION AND THE PREVENTION OF CANCER: A Global Perspective.

London School of Hygiene Distance Learning Courses
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine will be offering two
new distance learning Postgraduate Diploma / Master of Science (MSc)
courses from 1998, in Infectious Diseases and Health Systems
Management. A course in Epidemiology will soon follow. All
courses will be aimed at students around the world and will not
require residence periods in London, although students can chose to
