Dear Colleague,

The publication described below should be of interest to the readers of
your listserve. I would appreciate your forwarding the announcement to
them.

RESOURCES FOR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The University of Pennsylvania is pleased to announce the publication of
a new 200 page reference work on national and international
development. The softback volume has was prepared by Dr. Richard J.
Estes, Professor and Chair, of the University's Concentration in Social
and Economic Development.

The volume serves the informational needs of many audiences but is
especially useful as a reference work for persons wishing to identify
basic resource materials in the interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral
field of social development. As such, the volume contains references to
literally thousands of published English-language materials on virtually
every aspect of national and international development. The carefully
organized volume is especially suited for use as a supplementary
reference work in macro-level courses that include comparative content
(e.g., in social policy, social welfare, and social research,
international development, and so on). The volume also can be used a
comprehensive reading list for all other courses with significant
international content.

In addition to this volume, a parallel electronic site on the World Wide
Web (WWW) has been developed by the editor that links scholars with
archival and data sources available from the home pages of national
governments, international development organizations, and hundreds of
non-governmental organizations. Many of these unpublished resources are
available only on the Internet. Referred to as Praxis: Resources for
Social and Economic Development, the site may be accessed at the
following URL address: http://caster.ssw.upenn.edu/~restes/praxis.html
