Internship Title: York University Distributed Knowledge Project / Chile
REFERENCE NUMBER: CIDA 99-65
DESCRIPTION: The intern will assist in researching and designing a
community health network strategy in collaboration with Chile's first
telecentr, located in the low income Pealoln district of Santiago, Chile.
The objectives would be to do an 'environmental scan' of Pealoln health
actors, networks and projects; to help develop a community based health
network strategy; to help create an ICT training program for local health
actors, linking local efforts to global expertise and lessons learned; and
to help develop a Pealoln Health Network web page strategy and presence.
REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate degree in a health related field and in-depth
knowledge of participatory approaches to assessing and designing a
community based health network; skills to help create a user-focused ICT
training program (focus on uses, not on programming) and organize a health
network web page strategy and presence; and fluency in Spanish. Prior
experience with community based participatory projects and prior
experience in a Spanish language setting are strong assets.
WORK LOCATIONS:Canada (Ottawa or Toronto pref.) and Santiago, Chile
INTERNSHIP DATES: 7 to 8 months, starting by September 1, 1999
