I urge all "health promoters" in Ontario to obtain a copy of the proposed new core guidelines for public
health.  Apparently, all of public health is being reduced to "Communicable Diseases" and
"Non-Communicable Diseases."  These guidelines have only been provided to public health units and the
OPHA.

The following are some comments I have heard.  "It's back to the 1960's and health education."  "It is a
capitulation to the masters at Queen's Park".  "I am so upset by this, and you know who is behind this."

I propose that once you obtain these guidelines, first read the Ottawa Charter on Health Promotion, and then
consider the implications of these guidelines.
