Hi everyone,
I'm issuing a kind of challenge to CLICK4 subscribers. Yesterday's address
by Maude Barlow at the OPHA served to confirm that my fears about the
potential destruction of democracy through turning the world over to the
rule of mega multinational corporations through international trade
agreements was not completely unfounded.

I've faxed the Prime Minister a letter and copied in my local MP,
expressing my concern that Canada take a firm position at the upcoming WTO
meeting in 2 weeks in Seattle, including withdrawal from GATT if there is
no other alternative that would protect Canada's resources and services
such as health and education from commodification. I've also attached that
letter to emails that I've sent to everyone on my address list-I figure
that must be a couple of hundred people, outside of the listservs to which
I subscribe.

My challenge to CLICK4 members is to do something similar or more. I'm
convinced we can still make a difference, even if Seattle is only 2 weeks
away.
By the way, the Prime Minister's fax number is (613) 941-6900. Adeline
