Another item that I thought would interest many CANCHID subscribers. Samer
Jabbour is the editor of ProCOR, a listserv dedicated to addressing heart
disease in the developing world.

Subject: PROCOR: 6/25/00: Email Lists on Epidemiology & Public Health
Dear Friends,
I thought some of you may be interested in a list of existing email lists
dedicated to discussions on epidemiology, public health or both. I'm
subscribed to all of them and therefore the desciption is based on a
personal experience. Do you know of other lists that I may have missed?
Hope this is of help.
Regards
Samer
1. Epidemiology list at the Univesity of Montreal
This is one of the most resourceful email lists I have ever
seen. Some of the world's epi experts are on this list. There is usually
short turnaround time to getting answers to questions. Subscription to this
list is a must for anyone working in epi. They give the following
information on how to subscribe:
Send the following message:
SUBSCRIBE EPIDEMIO-L <your first and last name>
to: [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>
2. Mailbase email lists (e.g. public health)
This UK based network has a gazillion email lists, including
the one on public health. The PH list is active (average 1 message a day)
and some of the postings are relevant to epidemiology. They give the
following information on how to subscribe to the public health list:
Send the following message:
SUBSCRIBE public-health
to the Mailbase SERVER at [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
You can visit the Mailbase website www.mailbase.ac.uk
<http://www.mailbase.ac.uk> for more information on other lists that may be
of relevance to you. (the recent posting on Health Equity Network is also a
mailbase list)
3. Epinews list
The EPIDNEWS-L list is an "announce only" list, which
means that you cannot send messages to it for onward distribution.
Instead you will receive announcements. This is a very inactive list and
I'm yet to receive a message from them. They give the following information
on how to subscribe:
Send the following message:
SUBSCRIBE EPIDNEWS-L
to [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> .
4. Epiworld list at the University of South Carolina
Supposedly this list is dedicated to "Computer Applications
in Epidemiology" but the messages have been more on general epidemiology.
The list is relatively inactive with few messages a month and almost the
same messages show up on the EPIDEMIO-L list anyway. To subscribe:
Send the following message:
SUBSCRIBE EPIWORLD
to [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>
5. Clinical Epidemiology list at the Univ. of california-SF
Again this list posts only a few messages a month. To
subscribe:
Send the following message:
SUBSCRIBE CLINICALEPI
to [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
6. Epidemiology list at the American Diabetic Association
This list is run be the Council on Epidemiology and
Biostatistics but I'm yet to receive a posting from them! To subscribe:
Send the following message:
SUBSCRIBE EPIDEMIOLOGY
to [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
