CCIH TO HOST SESSION ON IFI HEALTH SECTOR OPPORTUNITIES FOR CANADIAN
BUSINESSES

Canadian businesses or NGOs involved in international health should plan
to attend a special session on International Financial Institutions
(IFIs) on October 29 in Ottawa during the Canadian Conference on
International Health (CCIH).

The Canadian Embassy in Washington is attempting to increase Canadian
participation in business opportunities being offered by the
International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the World Bank,
development banks and UN agencies. The first sector to be targeted is
health, and the Embassy’s Office of Liaison with IFIs (OLIFI) will be
launching the initiative with a session during the CCIH. The end goal
of OLIFI’s strategy is for Canadian firms and consultants to have the
tools and direct contacts needed to compete successfully for IFI-funded
projects in the health sector. World Bank and Asian Development Bank
health experts will participate in the session. For more information
and registration details, visit the website of the conference organizer,
the Canadian Society for International Health, at www.csih.org.

upon by global leaders two years ago when they adopted the United
Nations Millennium Declaration, Secretary-General Kofi Annan has

each year, the Secretary-General pledged that the UN would “also help
every developing country to produce its own annual report – so that in
