The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa has 
launched the first WHO Africa Innovation Challenge, calling for health 
innovations with the potential for having significant social impact and 
addressing the unmet health needs on the continent.

The selection process for this Challenge will prioritize innovative and 
scalable healthcare solutions. Solutions that will be considered should 
be broadly categorized as either product innovations, service 
innovations or social innovations. WHO AFRO recognizes that a single 
solution may apply to more than one of the categories but applicants 
must choose the category that suits their solution’s best strength.
