A Healthy Future?  PAHO's Prescription for Health in the Americas

A round-table discussion with Sir George Alleyne, M.D.,
Director of the Pan-American Health Organization

Hosted by the Canadian Foundation for the Americas (FOCAL) and the
Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH).
 
Dr. Alleyne will discuss health problems and prospects in the
Americans and outline what PAHO is doing to make health sustainable
in the hemisphere.  He will also address Canada's commitment to
this inter-American organization.  Based in Washington, PHAO is a
regional office of the World Health Organization.
 
Dr. Alleyne is visiting Ottawa in conjunction with the Canadian
Society for International Health's second Canadian conference on
international health titled:  Health reform around the globe:
Towards equity and sustainability?  November 12-15.

GEMS OF HOPE is an international development organization whose
mission is to help desperately poor families in Brazil and Haiti.
 
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual for the
position of Executive Director.  You will have a proven track
record in fund-raising, a minimum of five years experience in
international development with a background in health and
microenterprise loan funds and administrative abilities to manage
the Canadian Head Office.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to manage all projects,
oversee existing fund-raising initiatives and represent GEMS to the
community both nationally and internationally.
