"Getting Online: Communities on the Internet", National
Conference, June 21-23, Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario
------------------------------------------------------------
Use of the information highway by health and international
development NGOs will be one of several focal points of
*Getting Online: Communities on the Internet*, a national
conference taking place June 21-23 at Carleton University in
Ottawa.

Renowned Canadian authors John Ralston Saul and Heather
Menzies will be the keynote speakers at the conference, the
second in a series of annual events promoting community
access to the Internet. The 1995 community access conference
led to the formation of the Network Canada Alliance, a
national coalition promoting universal access to electronic
networks.

The conference also features a full day of online tutorials
June 20, to help participants hone their Internet skills or
learn the basics of electronic networking.

Registration for *Getting Online* is $175+GST for a three-day
event. The tutorials are being offered for the unbelievably
low price of $75+GST (available to conference registrants
only).

*Getting Online* is sponsored by InfoLink Consultants Inc.,
an Ottawa-based firm with extensive ties to the non-profit
sector. In past years, InfoLink produced conference
proceedings for CSIH's Indigenous Peoples and Health
Workshop, and for several events on participatory research.
