Essential Health Interventions Project (EHIP) has two vacant
positions to fill: PROJECT MANAGER and RESEARCH MANAGER
TANZANIA ESSENTIAL HEALTH INTERVENTIONS PROJECT

The Tanzanian Essential Health Interventions Project (TEHIP) is an
initiative sponsored by Canada's International Development Research
Centre (IDRC). TEHIP is a four-year health research and development
project, being carried out in full collaboration with the Tanzanian
Ministry of Health. The goal of TEHIP is to test the feasibility
of measuring the impact of an evidence-based approach to health
planning at the district level in Tanzania. The Project will
provide financial assistance for the delivery of essential clinical
and public health interventions in the two participating districts.
Both positions will be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and
will report to the Executive Director of the IDRC-EHIP
Secretariat in Ottawa, Canada and will work in collaboration
with the Tanzanian Ministry of Health.

PROJECT MANAGER: will be responsible for the management of the
TEHIP Project Office and the administration and management of
the project resources in Tanzania.
Qualifications: University degree in a related discipline,
and several years of progressively responsible management
experience.
Experience in the administrative and financial management of
large multi-disciplinary development projects in the social
sector.
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a
developing country environment, and strong team building
skills.

RESEARCH MANAGER: will ensure the integration of the
research component of the project; and will be responsible
for the leadership and guidance, on a day-to-day basis, of
the TEHIP research program in Tanzania in collaboration with
the Tanzanian Ministry of Health.
Qualifications: MD or PhD in the health sciences and proven
publication record. Broad health research skills and
practical field experience in epidemiology, health
technology assessment, or health intervention research,
preferably in Africa; and familiarity with concepts of
burden of disease and cost-effectiveness analysis.
Proven ability to manage and coordinate interdisciplinary
research projects, programs or networks in the field,
supervise staff, administer research grants/contracts, and
team building skills.

VACANCES (deux postes a pourvoir) : DIRECTEUR DE PROJET et
DIRECTEUR DE RECHERCHE (h/f), PROJET INTERVENTIONS
ESSENTIELLES EN SANTE (TANZANIE)

Le Projet Interventions essentielles en sante de Tanzanie
(PIEST), parraine par le Centre de recherches pour le
developpement international (CRDI), est une initiative de
recherche en sante et de developpement d'une duree
quadriennale placee sous les auspices du ministere de la
sante de Tanzanie. Le PIEST a pour but de definir la
faisabilite des mesures d'incidence d'une approche
empiriquement fondee en faveur des plans sanitaires mis en
oeuvre au palier des districts du pays. Le projet prevoit
une aide financiere a la prestation de soins cliniques et de
sante publique essentiels dans deux districts participants.
Les deux postes sont bases a Dar es Salaam (Tanzanie) et
rendent compte au directeur executif du Secretariat PIES-
CRDI base a Ottawa (Canada). L'activite se deroule en
collaboration avec la ministere tanzanien de la sante.
DIRECTEUR DE PROJET : Assumer la direction du siege du PIEST
ainsi que l'administration et la gestion des ressources du
projet en Tanzanie.
Exigences du poste et qualites : Diplome universitaire dans
une discipline pertinente et plusieurs annees d'experience
en gestion a des postes de responsabilite croissante.
Experience dans le domaine de la gestion administrative et
financiere de grands projets multidisciplinaires de
developpement dans le secteur social.
Esprit d'equipe et capacite attestee de travailler sous la
pression des circonstances et dans le cadre qui caracterise
les pays en developpement.
DIRECTEUR DE RECHERCHE : Assurer l'integration de la
composante de recherche du projet; assumer au jour le jour
la responsabilite et la conduite du programme de recherche
PIEST en Tanzanie, en collaboration avec le ministere
tanzanien de la sante.
Exigences du poste et qualites : Diplome du troisieme cycle
(Maitrise ou Doctorat) en sciences de la sante, avec
publications a son actif.
Vastes competences en matiere de recherche en sante et
experience de terrain en epidemiologie, evaluation des
techniques de sante ou recherche en interventions de sante,
acquises de preference en Afrique; familiarite avec les
notions de maladies dominantes et d'analyse de rentabilite.
Capacite attestee d'administrer et de coordonner des projets
pluridisciplinaire de recherche, des programmes ou des
reseaux operationnels, et savoir surveiller le personnel
place sous ses ordres, gerer des subventions et des contrats
de recherche et souder une equipe de chercheurs.
LA CONNAISSANCE DE L'ANGLAIS EST ESSENTIELLE DANS LES DEUX
POSTES. LA CONNAISSANCE DU SWAHILI EST UN ATOUT.
