The City of Toronto, the city that works, is dealing with the issue of front-yard
parking.  All of us who live here know the implications (health, safety, and other) of
having cars parked on the front of people's lawns.  (This is also an issue in
Kalmazoo MI, Tempe AZ, and Holland, MI]

The most recent issue of National Geographic did not highlight Toronto becuase of
its having cars on people's lawns!!

Below is an excerpt from a city counsellor's newsletter, followed by the e-mail
addresses of the Mayor and City Counsellors.  Please send something to these
individuals.


Front Yard Parking

Over the last few years, the intrusion of front yard parking, paving over front yards
and front yard garages, etc. have caused concern for many residents. Many people
feel that it is unsightly and takes away from the beauty of a street.

The City of Toronto is going through some major policy decisions on how to deal
with this issue. There was a public hearing to discuss this issue on Thursday,
February 22, 1996.
