Celebrate the launch of A Culture’s Catalyst: Historical Encounters with Peyote and the Native American Church in Canada by Fannie Kahan, published by The University of Manitoba Press on Saturday, May 13, 3-4 pm, Trinity St. Paul’s Center, 427 Bloor Street West, Toronto. Featured guests Erika Dyck & Meldon Kahan will discuss peyote’s role as a historical flashpoint for the struggle for Indigenous legal, political, and religious rights, and peyote’s current potential for healing. Erika Dyck is Canada Research Chair in History of Medicine and a professor in the Department of History at the University of Saskatchewan. Her books include Psychedelic Psychiatry: LSD on the Canadian Prairies.
