Health Promotion Information Centre

The federal government is developing a Canadian health information
system to facilitate improved access to health information. A
significant element of this undertaking is a Health Promotion
Information Centre, which will provide access to a range of health
information to both health practitioners and the general public across
the country in both official languages. The services will be provided
through a national World Wide Web site, a targeted call centre,
interactive voice response (IVR) and fax-back service.


We are bringing together a team of individuals to be part of the
creation of this innovative service. Their work will be dedicated to
supporting Canadians in making
healthy choices for improving their lives and their communities.

Information System Team Leader

We are a newly-created innovative health promotion information centre
with a national scope. The Centre is dedicated to enabling Canadians to
improve their health and the health of their families and communities by
developing knowledge and critical skills.  by improving access to
timely, relevant and credible information. The Centre is a
federally-funded project offering a bilingual service to improve access
to timely, relevant and credible information for the general public and
health professionals using state-of-the-art technology.

The IS Team Leader will be responsible for the development and ongoing
management of the Centre's information systems. This challenging
opportunity includes the integration of the social and technical
components; coordinating development with partner organizations;
establishing training and support services for internal staff, internal
and external collaborating organizations; ensuring that information
system components support service offerings and capacity; supervise
internal system development staff; coordinate development activities
with external site management, content and design contractors; and
ensure 7x24 operation of system software, hardware and carrier
components. The IS Team Leader will also coordinate voice and data
communications issues and protocols.

You must be a proactive, results-oriented leader with:
*       excellent knowledge of information system development and
management.
*       a broad base of operational experience in computer and
communications technologies
*       skills in leading and managing all aspects of the system side of
operations.
*       experience with project management and related software -
specifically budgeting, forecasting and scheduling.
*       demonstrated ability to manage complex and multi-faceted
initiatives in a rapidly changing work environment.
*       an advanced degree in one of the following areas: Information or
Computer Science, Information Studies, Business Administration (System
Management Focus).

The ability to converse in both official languages is preferred.
