Dear all,

I would like to seek help on the following issues:

< Issue One >

I am planning to hold a group for personal growth for clients with
chronic mental illness. At the end of a series of group meetings,
participants will be able to :
- gain more awareness about themselves
- know that they are not the only one with problems
- learn more positive attitude towards themselves
- accept their problems even they cannot solve them
- achieve personal growth as a whole

However, I wonder what indicators should I set to measure the outcome
of the program. Would anyone give me some suggestions?

< Issue Two >

The file attached / Stated below is an abstract (about 150 words) that
I have sent for a conference at Paris. I am asked to translate it into
French. However, I know nothing about French. Would anyone give me a
helping hand?

Kwai Chung Hospital, Hong Kong

A prospective study of long stay psychiatric clients in the community
after deinstitutionalization

Kwai Chung Hospital has initiated an Assertive Community Bridging
Project to discharge long stay psychiatric clients. This is the first
movement of deinstitutionalization at Hong Kong.

Purpose of the Study
This study is to evaluate the outcomes of these clients in the
community after their discharge from hospital.

Method Used
70 long stay psychiatric clients aged 18 to 65 have been identified in
the hospital. Baseline assessment will be conducted before their
discharge and the samples will be followed up after 6 months. The
analysis will be focused on comparing the condition of clients during
the process of deinstitutionalization.

Data Evaluation
The following data about clients will be evaluated:
1. physical health
2. mental status
3. social functioning
4. quality of life

Conclusion
This project is the first of its kind at Hong Kong. Its result may
provide some useful lessons and act as the blue print for the local
future service development.
