My experience suggests that there are 2 kinds of inquiries, narrow and board
(relative to the topic of the list). Narrow might be , "I'm looking for a
very specific bit of info (person, etc.)" which should go to the person
exclusively. But the broader types of queries, e.g., research on health and
poverty, are what make listservs interesting and useful. It's this flow of
info (which I can look in on as I like) that can make a list a learning
community.
