Just read Moving Beyond the Social Determinants of Health today in IJHS.  To me, its a striking example of US-type scholarship.

1. There are no references beyond authors from the USA.
2. The content is thoroughly depoliticized.
3. The examples provided are great illustrations of lifestyle drift.
4. There is no recognition of the profoundly disturbing effects on health of the USA's skewed political economy.
