CALL FOR PAPERS
THE MARK TWAIN CIRCLE OF AMERICA
AMERICAN LITERATURE ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONVENTION
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
MAY 27-30, 2010

The Mark Twain Circle hopes to sponsor two sessions at the upcoming American
Literature Association annual meeting in San Francisco, in the centennial
year of the death of Samuel Clemens.

The Circle is interested in receiving one-page abstracts for new and
well-researched scholarly papers on any subject related to Mark Twain's life
and work. Proposals are encouraged that have special relevance to the
centennial.

Abstracts and contact information should be sent to Professor Bruce
Michelson, President of the Mark Twain Circle ([log in to unmask]) with the
subject line:

Mark Twain Circle ALA

Submission deadline: January 8, 2010.

In addition to these sessions, the Circle is contemplating an informal
roundtable at ALA on plans for a Mark Twain Cookbook -- a short, playful,
but historically accurate tour through Sam Clemens's culinary enthusiasms
and ordeals at various stages in his long life. If you are interested in
joining that conversation and you have wisdom to share, please notify Bruce
Michelson ([log in to unmask]) with the subject line "Mark Twain Cookbook
Roundtable" before January 15, 2010.
