8:00 P.M. at Quarry Farm

     Professor Lawrence I. Berkove of the University of
     Michigan at Dearborn will speak on _The Ethical Records
     of Twain and his Circle of Old West Journalists_.
     Professor Berkove is the author of numerous books and
     articles about Mark Twain and his circle of "old west
     journalists," in particular, Dan DeQuille and Ambrose
     Bierce.  He is the author of seventeen entries for the
     forthcoming _Mark Twain Encyclopedia_.


Wednesday, April 21, 1993
8:00 P.M. at Quarry Farm

     Professor Miriam J. Shillingsburg, Associate Vice
     President of Academic Affairs of Mississippi State
     University, will present an illustrated talk on _Mark
     Twain in the Antipodes_ under the auspices of the
     Center's Distinguished Academic Visitors program.
     Professor Shillingsburg is the author of numerous
     scholarly articles and books including, _At Home Abroad:
     Mark Twain in Australasia_.


Wednesday, May 5, 1993
8:00 P.M. at Quarry Farm

     Professor Alice Hall Petry of the Rhode Island School of
     Design at Providence, RI will speak on _Cable, Twain, and
     the South_.  The author of numerous scholarly books and
     articles, Professor Petry's presentation will deal
     primarily with the joint appearances of George Washington
     Cable and Mark Twain on the lecture platform as well as
     with their mutual interests such as Southern folklore,
     racial issues, and social reform.


Wednesday, May 19, 1993
8:00 P.M. at Quarry Farm

     Professor Joseph B. McCullough of the University of
     Nevada at Las Vegas will speak on _Mark Twain's Many
     Faces of Eve_ under the auspices of the Center's
     Distinguished Academic Visitors program.  Professor
     McCullough is currently at work with Howard Baetzhold on
     an edition entitled _The Bible According to Mark Twain:
     Writings on Heaven, Eden and the Flood_.


Quarry Farm is located on Crane Road which can be reached from
East Avenue or Lattabrook Road.  Please reserve your seat by
