  This fine article originally appeared in 1994 in The National Pastime, an
annual publication of the Society for American Baseball Research. (It may
have been revised or expanded for the later publication, which I've never
seen.) SABR often has back issues available, relatively inexpensive,
so you could check the web site and see about getting it that way.
