I have just received a query about a statement purportedly made by Livy 
regarding Colombo:  "the most fascinating, picturesque place that I have 
ever seen".    I have a reference from Day By Day to a letter from Livy 
to Susan Crane on January 17, 1896.  I don't have access to letters from 
this late a date and it would be nice to verify this.  My query was from
