I'm rather gratified to read that Sam accompanied Bixby up the Missouri
River on the D. A. January.  I had been just a bit annoyed that such an
adventurous character as Sam would have missed that opportunity.  It
does require me to do some serious re-writing on this section of my web
site, however.  I suppose the Missouri was unsatisfactory to both men,
"climbing over reefs and clambering over snags patiently and laboriously
all day long."  I have not seen a reference to their objective location
but suppose they traveled to St. Joseph.
