The interview containing the great grandfather quote and his struggles for
international copyright laws is reprinted from the New York Times, Nov. 11,
1883 in Paul Fatout's _Mark Twain Speaks For Himself_.  While Fatout is
usually very good in providing footnotes of explanation, this comment is
offered to stand for itself.  Given that the date of 1847 could be a
misprint,
was there any other member of SLC's background involved in copyright
battles?
