Hello all --

I thought those of you who live in the New York area might like to know
about this walking tour, which I present every November on or near
Samuel Clemens' birthday.  It takes about an hour and a half and we
visit about a dozen Twain landmarks in lower Manhattan and Greenwich
Village, including Cooper Union, where Twain had his first East Coast
speaking engagement, a couple of places where the Clemenses resided, and
the site of the ill-fated Webster publishing business.  Twain's own
comments on New York enliven the proceedings, and we end with a birthday
toast in front of his last surviving Manhattan residence.

For those not already aware of this, I should mention that Mark Twain's
New York City connections were numerous and important, and the tour may
hold some enjoyable surprises for you.

We start from Broadway and Spring Street at 1:00 PM Saturday, November
22.  (Rain date: Sunday, same time & place.)  $15 a head; no reservation
