I wonder how many Twain-LISTERS know about the Bixby house here in St.
Louis? I have actually never been in it, but I know where it is. The
chair of my department actually looked at it when it was up for purchase
last summer. There is a plaque in the foyer describing Bixby & his
relationship with Twain. It is in one of the old neighborhoods off of
South Grand, not far from here at the university (obviously, it is an old
neighborhood!).

I wonder if Missouri Historical Society here has stuff on steamboaters like
Bixby? never taken the time to find out . . . . so little time, so many
things to do . . . .
