SIGN OF THE TIMES

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the celebrated jumping frog
of Calaveras County (the California Red-Legged Frog) on the U.S. List of
Endangered and Threaten Species.

The largest native frog in the west, prolific in California in 1865, has
now disappeared from 70 percent of it original range and the remaining
populations appear to be declining rapidly.
