Regarding sources on technology and _A Conecticut Yankee_:  There
are MANY sources on this topic, but one of the best known
(and best) analyses is in Leo Marx's _The Machine in the Garden_.
Any major library will have it.  Henry Nash Smith also wrote some
invaluable criticism on the book; you shouldn't overlook him.
