Another Horace:  Horace Fletcher, the diet guru of chewing your food a bunch
of times to aid digestion.  Twain commented on him, but I'm stumped about
the piece--and the crying clue...

I'm way off.  "The Canvasser's Tale" is far too long.
 
But the third Horace could be Walpole (and his house).
Second clue is a mystery.  Someone will know.  Fun
