Subject: AHSA/MTC American Humor Conference -- need a volunteer!

Apologies for cross-postings.

As part of my presentation at the ALA AHSA/MTC Americn Humor conference on
David Mamet's _Sexual Perversity in Chicago_, I'm planning to stage some
excerpts from the play itself. So far I have people for all the roles
except Bernie Litko, the self-styled expert on women & sex. So, I'm
asking for a volunteer from conference participants who wouldn't mind
"going on stage" as part of my presentation. For those of you who don't
know the play, Bernie is approaching middle-age, foul-mouthed, and
constantly spouting macho conquest stories -- I don't want anyone to end
up using language they'd be uncomfortable with otherwise. I'm not looking
for a trained actor -- rather, someone who doesn't mind hamming it up a
bit. In anticipation of any questions, my presentation concerns Mamet's
use of "masculinity" as an object of comedy -- I'll focus on the
relationship between Bernie and his younger friend Danny, but, time
permitting, also want to include some excerpts from the scenes in which
both Bernie and Danny engage with the two female characters, Joan and Deb.
My take is theoretical (a la Habermas), but I promise to keep it light on
theory and heavy on fun.
If you'd like to help me out, or ask me anything before putting yourself
on the spot, please respond to me off-list at <[log in to unmask]>.
Thank you in advance.
