With Mark Twain's birthday coming up, as well as the holiday
season, I am wondering what gifts Forum readers would give
to Mark Twain, if they could. For instance, as we all know,
Jean's last Christmas gift for her father was a globe. So,
if Twain were still alive (and putting aside the fact that
he would be 160 years old), what would you buy him?

I'll start. The following is from a catalogue of ancient and
medieval coins:

COIN FROM THE TALES OF 1001 ARABIAN NIGHTS
This silver coin was struck by the famous Abbasid
Caliph Harun al-Rashid who ruled from his capital
in Baghdad from 786 to 809 AD. Muslim culture flour-
ished under his magnificent and just reign. It was
his court which is described in many of the Tales
of the Arabian Nights. The coin grades Fine but
shows signs of corrosion. The major elements of the
        design are clear however.

All that history and romance for a mere $8.00, and a gift I
think our favorite author would be pleased with.

Your suggestions?

Regards,

Mary Leah Christmas
