I want to welcome McAvoy Layne to the Mark Twain Forum. McAvoy is the
talented actor who portrayed Mark Twain in the Discovery Channel's "Great
Books: Huckleberry Finn" program. McAvoy also delivered an address in
August at "The State of Mark Twain Studies Conference" in Elmira. This was
part of the session which was recorded by C-SPAN to be broadcast some time
this autumn. (Broadcast date will be announced on the Forum as soon as C-
SPAN lists it on their schedule.)

Please visit the Mark Twain Forum Photo Gallery to view a color portrait of
McAvoy Layne as Mark Twain. There is also a link to Layne's home page which
includes a schedule of upcoming performances and an informative article
about the actor by David W. Toll, which appeared in _Nevada_ magazine in
1995. (Layne's portrait was featured on the cover of that issue.)

I also want to remind members that all are welcome to post a photo in the
Photo Gallery. Please contact me or Taylor Roberts <[log in to unmask]> if
you are interested. (Photos of members wearing Mark Twain Forum T-shirts
are shamelessly encouraged.)
