Phyllis,
Henry Rule, in his study of "Hadleyburg," suggests that young Sam
remembered his mother complaining that no one prayed for Satan. In Sunday
School, young Sam wanted to write a biography of Satan, but was barred
from doing it by his Sunday School teacher.
I am at home and don't have the complete biblio. on Rule's article. Let
me know if you are interested and I'll get the info for you. Hope this
helps.
