Hi Susan,

For years we called the dog "Hash"
until learning a few months ago
that someone had misread "Fl"
as "H" - making the dog's name
"Flash." The correction came to us
from our friends at Berkeley, so
they likely have more details.

Hope this helps a little. Bless the
folks at Berkeley!

Cindy

Subject: Query

Dear All,

This is a query re the photograph of Twain, Livy, and the girls outside the=
Hartford house, sometime in the 80s, I assume. They are sitting on the st=
eps of the veranda and there is a large dog stretched out in front of them.=
I would like to know a little bit about the dog. Did it belong to the Cl=
emens family? Name? Breed? Anyone know?

Many thanks. --susan harris
