The Mark Twain event last night at the Sacramento Main Public Library,
featuring Bob Hirst as speaker, was a tremendous success. There was a long
line forming 45 minutes before the doors opened! All seats were taken so
that more were provided up on the balcony surrounding the gallery. Bob's
talk, illustrated with slides, evoked laughter and not only with the Mark
Twain quotes! He illuminated the history of the Mark Twain Papers as well
as the project to finally get out all of Mark Twain's autobiography. Not
one moment of this presentation was dull! In fact, the audience was NOT
tired of him when he stopped and would have been glad for him to continue.
Mark Twain, thanks to McAvoy Layne, who channeled him, made an appearance.
The trouble began at 6PM and ended too soon at 7:30.
